It's now 2008. Doesn't feel much different, but I had a great New Year's Eve party with friends and old friends in town visiting. =)
I don't believe in New Year's resolutions.. because you should better yourself every day.. not wait for a new year to unfold, but I do want to list things I'd like to accomplish and soon.
Pay off the rest of our tickets (very soon)
Get our bank accounts opened back up (cash in hand goes too quickly)
Open a savings account
Eat at the dinner table together more (especially since Vincent's arriving very soon)
Get rid of the rest of my pack ratty clutter I always accumulate and drive Thomas nuts with
Be quicker and more reliable when it comes to getting Thank You cards out
Call people myself more instead of always handing the phone to Thomas and making him do it (I don't know why I'm so shy over the phone)
Visit my grandparents, uncles, aunt, and cousins more
Don't eat out as much, no matter how much I'm craving that Subway sandwich or Sonic's Cranberry Limeade
Be more organized
Pray more
Start up commissions on my art website
Look into what I have to do to start classes again at the local community college
Better my posture
Draw more
When I have the extra money available, start redoing my wardrobe
Exercise
Finish my wedding scrapbook (so I can start on Vincent's scrapbook) and work on scrapbooking more
Buy new makeup (all of mine is so old and falling apart)
Stop coveting so much
.....Those are just a few of what I need to get done in my life....
Shara's stayed the night with us for three days since she's been in town.. it's been great fun hanging out with her. Her and Thomas are at our apartment (still asleep, I bet) while I'm up at the church answering the phones while everyone in the office is in a meeting. Deborah, my Mother in Law, usually answers the phone but she had to take one of Thomas' siblings to the dentist, so I'm taking over until that's all done and out of the way.
When I get back home I'm probably going to take a nap and then wake Thomas and Shara around 12 or so. I'm going to see if everyone wants to visit the museum that's in Canyon, a town about 10 minutes away from ours. I have never been there, and I just found out that they have a great dinosaur bone exhibit. I'm a fanatic about dinosaurs.. and yet I've never gotten to see a full skeleton or skull in person. Just in books and on the internet. I think it's about time I went.
That would be awesome if Vincent became fascinated by dinosaurs.. like I was when I was a kid (and still am today). I wish I still had my hundreds of dinosaur figurines that I'd collected over the years, but a few years ago I found out my mom just gave them away without my consent.. and sadly I'm still bitter about it to this day. Not only were they given away, they were given away to a boy that #1 never appreciated any of his belongings and #2 probably has broken them all and/or lost them all. (He's the son of one of my mom's old friends.. and I know how her kids are. It really steams me up to think about all my wonderful figurines in the hands of that ungrateful little boy...) I would have given them all to my Vincent, and taught him to take care of them. I kept such great care of them all, even with all the wear and tear they've endured over the years of being played with. I thought about going to Ebay and getting a bunch of them back, but most of them are considered collectors' items now and are ridiculously expensive. *sigh* Now that kids are all about electronics and video games.. I hardly ever see dinosaur figurines on the shelves in stores, save maybe the ones that look like it took a second to put together with no effort and are retarded-looking.
...Sorry.. I know those figurines were merely material items.. but they had a lot of sentimental value to me and now they're gone and nearly impossible (and expensive) to replace. I'm such an over-dramatic dork about them.
Oh, another small rant I'm going to throw in here. WHY are crib mattresses so ridiculously expensive?! Because they -know- you need them.. that's why. I went to Target last night to see what kind of price range I'd be looking at, and the most inexpensive (and only) one on the shelf was over eighty dollars! I don't even want to know how much they are say at Babies 'R' Us or elsewhere. I have this beautiful crib in our bedroom with sheets waiting to be put on the mattress and I'm gonna have to spend a small fortune (to us, anyway) to get one. Ugh! Maybe I'll wait it out to see if one will be purchased for us at our Baby Shower in the beginning of February. If not, we'll just have to bite our cheeks and just buy one.
Anyway, I guess I'll leave it at that. If we get to the museum today I'll post up some pictures of the awesome dinosaur bones and skeletons. XD
